Amazon Error Code 8572

Amazon Error Code 8572 can be caused by several different reasons. Namely Brand name, Manufacturer Name or Product name.

Product name
The product name needs to be unique and not one that is already listed in the Amazon Database. For exmaple if you were selling a water bottle, you couldn’t just list the product name as Water Bottle. You would have to differentiate from any other listed product on amazon. So you could for example enter the product name “Pink water bottle with yellow floral design”. This not only differentiates your product, but would also expand search terms that would show your product.

Brand Name
Brand name is the most common reason for error code 8572. The easiest option for the Brand name is to enter it as generic, by ticking the box that says “This product does not have a Brand”.

Manufacturer name
First try entering your Amazon seller name as the Manufacturer. If that doesn’t work try entering the brand as TBA or T.B.A. However what is probably best, is to simply reduce your seller name. For example if your seller name is Toms Sporting Goods, enter the brand name as TSG or TSG1. On occasion, you may have to play around with this to get it to work. For example TSG may not work, but T.S.G will. AR1 appears to be working well at present but this may change. Its just a case of trial and error. If that doesn’t work, simply put it as Generic.

You may not create ASINs

This error sometimes also shows as Error Code 5461. This solution relates to when the error code is 5461 and the error message is You may not create ASINs for this brand. Please review our ASIN Creation Policy.

Should you be getting the alternate 5461 error message where the text is – “You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list.” Please see the guide here.

So what does the error “You may not create ASINs for this brand. Please review our ASIN Creation Policy.” mean and how can you solve it.

In this case, it would appear that you are trying to list a product and are using an established brand name. For example, you are trying to list a pair of Nike shoes, and are entering the Brand Name as Nike. Amazons brand registry of course recognises Nike as brand. Amazon therefor want you to use the existing listing to promote price competition.

There is of course a solution to this. Under the Brand Name of your new listing enter your seller name and simply add the brand name of Nike to the product title. Are you trying to list a new product on amazon and receiving the Amazon Error Code 5665 that says:-

Amazon must approve your brand before using it to lost products. Brands should be registered through Brand Registry.

This Amazon Error code 5665 is a relatively new issue. Its also quite misleading and confusing. In that Amazon are saying that to list your new product that you need to register your brand first. However it appears that they also want you to list the product so that they can review the brand. However, as you know if you have received this error message, you cannot list the product.

So what can you do. Well, when listing the product you could enter the brand as TBA or T.B.A. However what is probably best, is to simply reduce your seller name. For example if your seller name is Toms Sporting Goods, enter the brand name as TSG or TSG1. On occasion, you may have to play around with this to get it to work. For example TSG may not work, but T.S.G will. AR1 appears to work well at present, but that may change in the future.

Once you have done this successfully, you should edit the listing as soon as possible, during which time it will allow you to change the Brand Name to what you actually wanted it to say, such as Toms Sporting Goods.

This is of course, a work around solution. You could still follow the Amazon support route, and look at the brand registration. This of course can take quite some time. Which many people stating that Amazon has declined the brand, stating its not sufficiently displayed on the product packaging etc.

Amazon Error Code 5461

Amazon Error Code 5461

If you receive an error message similar to “You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list.”. This is Amazon error Code 5461.

This is because Amazon believes that the product that you are trying to list already exists in their catalogue. They want all listings of the same product to be on the same listing, to promote price competition. This may be best for Amazon, but undoubtedly isn’t the best option for you as a seller.

So to add your product as a new, unique listing, you simply need to differentiate your product to enable it to be listed. Lets say your seller name on Amazon is Seller 1. End your product title “supplied by Seller1”. Also under manufacturer enter it as “Seller1”.

Ensure that you are not using a brand name in the product title e.g. Nike, Adidas etc. Instead this should be inserted in the description of the product. You may need to try slight variations on the product title until Amazon’s system identifies your product as a new product.

In some cases, its actually the brand name or manufacturer that you have entered that is throwing up the error code. First try entering your Amazon seller name as the brand and manufacturer. If that doesn’t work try entering the brand as TBA or T.B.A. However what is probably best, is to simply reduce your seller name. For example if your seller name is Toms Sporting Goods, enter the brand name as TSG or TSG1. On occasion, you may have to play around with this to get it to work. For example TSG may not work, but T.S.G will. AR1 appears to be working well at present but this may change. Its just a case of trial and error.

However sometimes you only have a very short time period to do so. Sometimes it just can’t be changed afterwards

On rare occasions, this could then lead to Amazon Error Code 5665, which is a relatively new issue. Fortunately we also have a helpful guide to address this error code as well available here.

As Amazon appear to like to make things quite confusing for people listing products, there is also another time Amazon Error Code 5461 comes up. Even though the reason for it is completely different to the above. The text shown will not be the same as above, in that the text will now show as “Your are using UPCs, EANs etc. etc. Instead the text will show as “You may not create ASINs for this brand. Please review our ASIN Creation Policy”. Despite it showing the exact same error code, namely 5461 Fortunately we have the solution to this error code available here.

It seems rather strange that Amazon would you the same error code for 2 different reasons. However, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that Amazon like to make things as easy as possible for sellers.
